Major changes to road laws in Ireland

The Irish Government's Road Safety Authority has taken some drastic measures to prevent road accidents. The new road safety law came into effect on Thursday (October 27).


The Irish government set out a safety strategy in 2021 to prevent road deaths. Objective – To reduce the accident fatality rate to zero by 2030. Which is named, 'Vision Zero'. In continuation of this, the road safety law is getting stricter every year. As part of this, fines for sixteen road safety offenses have been doubled.


If a driver drives a car at a high speed, where earlier they had to pay 8 thousand Bangladeshi taka, now it has been reduced to 16 thousand. Fines have increased for non-observance of various laws, including not wearing seat belts for children, using mobile phones while driving. And if you don't have a valid permit, you will have to pay 20,000 taka in Bangladeshi taka from now on.


The important steps taken by the government to prevent death in road accidents, locals and expatriates believe that road accidents will be reduced in the future. They see a lot of hope in this new law.


An expatriate Bangladeshi said, 'The fine has been doubled for several offences. I believe that the drivers will drive more cautiously and due to this the rate of road accidents will be reduced to a large extent.


Another expatriate said, 'It is definitely a good initiative, which I think is a part of Vision 2030. I think that both drivers and pedestrians will be much safer.
