Two Palestinians were shot dead at a military checkpoint

The Israeli army shot dead two Palestinians at a military checkpoint south of Nablus in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. According to Al-Jazeera, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that the incident happened on Thursday (October 27) at 2 am local time.

At that time, a 47-year-old Palestinian named Imad Abu Rashid was shot in the head, chest and stomach by Israeli forces and died on the spot.

Palestinian health officials also said the other victim, 35-year-old Ramji Sami Jabara, had a deep bullet wound to his heart. Apart from this, two other people who were with them were seriously injured.

Palestinian authorities said it was not yet clear why they were killed. The identity of the injured could not be known. They underwent surgery at Rafidiya Hospital in Nablus. Their condition is said to be stable by the Palestinian Authority.

Palestinian authorities said Jabara and Abu Rashid both worked for the Palestinian Authority's Civil Defense and lived in the Askar refugee camp on the eastern outskirts of Nablus. Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shatayeh expressed his grief over the deaths of the two.
