The dictator, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, was shown a Belarusian-made drone. He said, this drone will be very effective in protecting the border with Ukraine.
Lukashenko said he did not want to use any weapons against his country's southern neighbor. However, the country says it has been the victim of a series of Iranian-made drone attacks during recent operations by Russian forces.
The 68-year-old leader said that it would not be advisable to use these (drones) against Ukraine. He said, after all, Ukrainians are our citizens.
Regarding the drones made by Belarus, he said that Belarus will sell them to those who express interest in buying these drones.
Belarus is financially and politically dependent on its main ally, Russia. Lukashenko allowed Russian troops to be stationed in Belarus, and in February these troops began their invasion of Ukraine from Belarusian soil. On Friday, he insisted, Minsk does not want to get involved in any war.
Lukashenko says we are not planning to go anywhere. No more war. We have no need for war. Kiev has warned of the danger of renewed attacks from the north.
Meanwhile, on Monday (October 17), Lukashenko alleged that Ukraine was plotting to attack Belarus. For this reason, he announced the deployment of joint forces with Russia.
