Protest by farmers in New Zealand against government decisions
Farmers of New Zealand have protested in a novel way with tractors. Farmers protested recently in the city of Dunedin against the proposal to impose a tax on cow dung and ventilation. However, the government claims that this initiative has been taken to prevent the adverse effects of climate change.
The owner has to pay tax if cattle are sacrificed. Last week, such a headline appeared in various international media. People associated with the country's agriculture have protested this proposed decision in a different way.
Farmers from various parts of New Zealand gathered in the city of Dunedin on Thursday (October 20). At this time, besides taking positions with flags and placards, they circled the streets with different types of tractors and pickups. They are also seen writing protest slogans at this time. Farmers demand that the decision should be canceled quickly, otherwise the economy of small towns will collapse along with pressure on marginal farmers.
Farmers said, we are working against a decision which is totally ineffective. Especially the recent decision to impose a tax on carbon emissions will absolutely destroy our agriculture sector.
Many are also concerned about how emissions will be priced in such a proposed decision. They also alleged that the government has taken such unreasonable steps after failing to deal with climate change. Farmers say that the government has imposed too much tax on us. It will completely wipe out the farming community. It should stop.
However, such a strange initiative has been taken to prevent the emission of methane gas, which is harmful to the environment, said those concerned.
