The Arab League summit has started in Algiers, the capital of Algeria. The two-day conference started on Tuesday (November 1) after two years due to the Corona epidemic. The leaders of the organization have already attended the conference. It is said that global food security and Palestine issue will be given the most importance in this year's conference.

Arab League summit begins in Algeria

The Arab League was established in 1945 with the participation of 22 countries from the Middle East and North Africa. This year is the organization's 31st summit.

However, some member countries like Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Morocco and Syria are not joining it due to conflict of regional interests. Mohammed bin Zayed of the United Arab Emirates and President Michel Aoun of Lebanon are also not participating.

Algeria has been largely aloof from regional issues for several years following the ouster of former president Abdelaziz Bouteflika in the face of 2019 protests.

However, by hosting the Arab League summit in the country's capital, the important African country is believed to have joined the new diplomatic race.

As a former minister and ambassador of the Algerian government said. The diplomat said, "This conference proves that Algeria has returned to international issues after several years of isolation due to the protest movement, the corona epidemic and the financial crisis."

Algiers hosted a summit last month aimed at resolving internal conflicts and building greater unity among Palestine's top rival factions. Apart from this, President Abdelmajid Tibun recently welcomed the leaders of France and Italy.
