The former president of the country, Donald Trump, filed a defamation case against CNN. In the case, he asked CNN for compensation of 475 million dollars.
According to The Guardian, on Monday (October 3), Trump filed a lawsuit in the District Court of the State of Florida. He alleged that CNN had launched a 'false, defamatory and slanderous' campaign against him. Because, he is going to contest the presidential election again in 2024.
The complaint also said that CNN wanted to use its influence as a trusted news source. To defeat the plaintiff in this case (Trump) politically, they want to spread slander about him among viewers and readers.
The complaint further alleges that CNN has engaged in a series of defamatory and false campaigns against the plaintiffs in the case. He has been labeled a 'racist', 'agent of Russia', 'rebel' and 'Hitler'.
During his tenure as president, Trump has often clashed with other media outlets, including CNN and the New York Times, and the image of that bitterness has come to light. At that time, Trump repeatedly called the news of these organizations as "fake".
