Imran is in doubt about early elections

Due to the five-year ban on Imran Khan, there are doubts about his participation in the next elections. PTI is already preparing to move the High Court against the verdict. However, as the Election Commission has accused Imran of giving false information, he will have to approach the lower court regarding the matter. News TBS News.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday (October 21) imposed a five-year ban on Imran Khan in the Toshakhana corruption case. After the verdict, Imran's parliamentary membership was declared void. His party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf immediately announced an appeal to the High Court against this verdict. However, due to this verdict, Imran Khan is going to face a complicated legal battle.

The ECP filed a complaint in the lower court against Imran for giving a false statement in the corruption case. In other words, apart from going to the High Court regarding the ban, Imran will have to continue the legal battle in the lower courts as well. However, the draft petition against the allegations has already been completed, PTI said.

However, Imran Khan cannot appeal against the ECP's verdict in the high court even if he wants to. The process is also delayed due to the fact that the Election Commission has not given a copy of the judgment in writing. The ECP said the delivery of the judgment copy was delayed as one of the five members of the commission was absent. Imran's party PTI has expressed anger about this.

Recently, Imran Khan won 6 out of 8 seats in the by-elections of the National Assembly of Pakistan. After the ambiguous verdict of the country's Election Commission, complications arose over the validity of the post of PTI chairman in those constituencies. Nothing has been reported from ECP in this regard yet. PTI alleged that the Election Commission's decision is against the verdict of the people.

In this complex legal equation, many people are also seeing the possibility of the decision of the Election Commission being rejected by the High Court. Pakistan's constitutional expert Hafiz Ahsan has been quoted as saying in the report published in the country's media that the ECP has violated Section 63 P of the Election Act 2017. If Imran Khan approaches the High Court, the decision to ban the PTI leader may be canceled because of this violation of the law.
