12 soldiers killed in Two Days in Myanmar
The People's Defense Force (PDF) has claimed to have killed at least 12 junta soldiers in Myanmar in two days. The armed group attacked an important gas pipeline controlled by the junta in the central part of the country, the Irrawaddy media reported.
For several months, the junta forces have been carrying out large-scale military operations to suppress armed rebels in several states of Myanmar, including Rakhine, Sagain, Karen. The military claimed that many insurgents were also killed in the ongoing operation.
On Wednesday (October 26), the Irrawaddy media reported that the armed group targeted the bases of the Junta forces in Mandalay, Bago, Sagain, Kayah and Cochin states. Meanwhile, PDF attacked an important gas pipeline under the control of junta forces in Mandalay. At that time the pipeline was completely damaged. Several Junta soldiers were also killed.
PDF said in a statement that the attacks had intensified as the junta forces withdrew from Karen State. The main goal of the armed group is to wrest control of this important route, which is used for importing and exporting goods from Thailand, from the hands of the junta forces.
Meanwhile, ASEAN, the regional alliance of Southeast Asian countries, has expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict in Myanmar. At the same time, the coalition called for a quick end to the conflict. In a virtual conference on Wednesday, the foreign ministers of the ASEAN countries made this call to the junta forces and armed groups.
