Young woman dies in police custody, 8 killed in turbulent Iran
Eight people have been killed in clashes with security forces during ongoing protests in Iran over the death of a young woman in police custody. One of them is a policeman, according to the news agency Reuters. Hundreds were injured in this incident. Meanwhile, the security forces have claimed that they are not responsible for the death of the young woman.
On Wednesday (September 21) there was unrest in different cities of Iran. On this day, security forces clashed with protesters in the western cities of Naqadih and Banih.
Police arrested several people from the streets of the two cities on Wednesday. Several members of the security forces were injured in the protestor-police clash.
Meanwhile, the Iranian police claimed that they are not responsible for the death of Masha Amini. In a statement, they said, Amini was already sick. Although her father claims, the girl's body has injury marks.
Masha Amini, a 22-year-old girl, died in Tehran last week after being arrested by the police over the hijab issue in Iran. News of his death sparked protests across the country.
