Super typhoon 'Noru' hits; Death of 4 rescue workers
Super typhoon 'Noru' ravaged the Philippines. The cyclone hit the eastern part of the country on Sunday (September 25) afternoon local time. BBC reported the death of 4 rescue workers.
According to the Philippine National Meteorological Department, the wind speed at that time was 240 kilometers per hour. According to them, this is the most influential typhoon of the year. Luzhan island has been destroyed by the impact. Half of the total population of the country lives there. Due to the influence of this super typhoon, danger signal number 5 has been issued in the country. Along with this, heavy tides and floods are predicted.
At least 8,500 residents were evacuated to safe havens before the typhoon hit. Government and private offices, various industries and educational institutions will be closed on Monday. Five international and 44 domestic flights were canceled due to inclement weather.
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos said on Monday that, at least for now, we seem to be lucky. The precautions taken in the last two days were very important for us. But it is not over. We can say that the situation has changed only when the people of the country in safe haven go back to their homes.
