After the European Union (EU) imposed sanctions on Russian oil and gas, several oil refineries in Germany are shutting down. In such a situation, Germany took control of 3 refineries dependent on Russian oil in three regions of the country. Chancellor of the country Olaf Scholz said that Germany will no longer trust anything in Russia.
Since the imposition of sanctions by Germany and the Western world on Russian oil and gas over the Ukraine issue, 3 major oil refineries such as PCK Schwede in Brandenburg, Germany, Miro in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, and Bayern Oil in Wahburg, Bavaria, have somehow closed.
Shalaj administration said to take control of three Russian-owned oil refineries in the country, thinking about the supply of fuel and the livelihood of the workers in the upcoming winter season. According to the German government, the decision has been taken to solve the ongoing energy crisis and to think about the future of the 3 institutions.
On Saturday (September 17), in response to a question from journalists about the energy crisis, Shalz said that this step was taken so that Russia could not use oil as a weapon against Germany in the future.
The German Chancellor said, 'Rosneft Deutschland will be managed from the German federal network. Through this the country will be saved from energy crisis. Russia is no longer our energy supplier. We already had an idea that our energy crisis will occur due to the attack of Russian forces in Ukraine. Because of which this decision. Shwed Oil Refinery will remain operational and regular oil supply will be provided from here.'
Rosneft Deutschland GmbH and RN Refining & Marketing GmbH will be kept under Germany's Federal Network Energy Administration at any cost, the German Finance Ministry said today.
Oil import and marketing company Rosneft imports millions of euros worth of crude oil from Russia every month. The 3 controlled companies have about 12 percent of Germany's oil refining capacity. According to Rosneft, this step will initially ensure the supply of energy to Germany for the next six months.
Although earlier Rosneft said in a statement, they have no plans to stop importing oil from Russia. But considering the overall situation there was no alternative to a fresh decision. According to energy experts, it was 'immaturity' of the EU, including Germany, to impose sanctions against Russia without considering future scenarios.
