At least more than 40 members of the junta have been killed in clashes with rebel groups in Myanmar, the armed group People's Defense Force-PDF has claimed. According to media Irrawaddy, this loss of life occurred in two days of clashes in different regions of the country. However, the junta government has not yet said anything about it.
Heavy clashes are ongoing between the rebel group People's Defense Force-PDF and members of the Janta Bahini in some regions of Myanmar, including Sagaing, Magui, Mendal and Chin states. On Monday (October 10) and Tuesday (October 11), Janta Bahini clashed with several other local armed groups including PDF. The rebel groups claimed that more than 40 soldiers were killed.
Several soldiers were killed when two battalions of PDF and local armed group Janta Bahini attacked two villages in Sagaing region on Tuesday, the Irrawaddy media reported. Earlier, the army raided the two villages. Later, the rebels destroyed 13 boats of the army in another round of clashes in Miging town.
On the same day, some Janta Army personnel were killed when PDF members carried out drone strikes and detonated mines targeting some Janta Army bases. On the same day, a drone attack on a police station resulted in the loss of lives of several other members.
Earlier, members of the People's Defense Force also detonated landmines targeting a military base of the Janta Army in Magui area of ​​Sagaing on Monday. In addition to the casualties, some vehicles of the Janta Army were destroyed. It is not yet clear how much the Janata Bahini has suffered in these two-day attacks.
