15 people are dying every minute due to hunger
Hunger, poverty and famine in the world have become worse than ever before. People are dying every moment without food. As a matter of fact, one person dies every four seconds. That means 15 people are losing their lives every minute. In a statement of more than two hundred NGOs at the session of the United Nations General Assembly, these terrible facts have emerged.
The 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly began on Monday (September 19) in the city of New York. An open letter was written on behalf of 238 NGOs from 75 countries of the world such as Oxfam, Save the Children and Plan International to the world leaders present on the second day of the session, Tuesday (September 20).
In that open letter, the heads of state and government of different countries of the world have been warned that at the moment 345 million people in the world are going through hunger and extreme poverty. This number is double that of 2019.
He further said, it is not a matter of a country or a continent, it is an injustice to the entire humanity. We should not wait a moment longer to focus on providing immediate life-saving food and long-term support. So that people can take responsibility for their future and provide food for themselves and their families.
