Who will be the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after Liz Truss?
Liz Truss has stepped down from the post of British Prime Minister. He announced his resignation on Thursday (October 20) after just 45 days after a lot of drama. In September, Liz Truss was elected leader of the ruling Conservative Party, defeating rival former finance minister Rishi Sunak.
Regarding the election of the party's new leader, Truss said that a new leader of the party will be elected in the next few weeks. He will serve as prime minister until a new leader is elected.
Now the question naturally arises, who will be the new leader? In response to such a question, some names have already come up. The first of these is the name of former finance minister Rishi Sunak, who is truss's rival in the leadership selection.
Current Finance Minister Jeremy Hunt, Leader of the House of Commons Penny Mordant and Defense Minister Ben Wallace are also leading.
Even Foreign Minister Suela Braverman and former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who resigned on Wednesday (October 19), cannot be ruled out as leaders once again.
After Truss's resignation, Sir Graham Brady, chairman of parliament's 1922 committee, spoke about the choice of leadership. He said the leadership nomination will be completed by October 29.
According to Sky News, Penny Mordant's colleagues are heard saying that he may take part in the leadership struggle.
Law and Justice Minister Brandon Lewis is also expected to take part. Meanwhile, those close to Rishi Sunak say that Sunak's participation in the election is quite certain.
