Gunmen open fire at Iranian shrine, killing 15
At least 15 people, including women and children, have been killed in an attack by gunmen in southern Iran.According to the international news media Al Jazeera, at least 40 people were injured in this incident. The attack took place at a Shia Muslim shrine in the southern city of Siraj, Iran.
According to Iran's state-controlled news media IRNA, 3 gunmen entered the shrine on Wednesday (October 26) evening and opened fire. Casualties occurred at this time. They said that two gunmen were arrested but one escaped.
Meanwhile, although the motive of the attack is not known, IRNA described it as a 'Takfiri terrorist' act. They said that these terrorists are related to the Islamic State militant group. Meanwhile, another Iranian news media reported that the attackers were not Iranian citizens.
