Two top ISIS leaders were killed in a US airstrike

Two top leaders of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) were killed in a US airstrike in Syria. It is reported that no civilian was injured in the incident. Washington said the airstrikes were carried out based on intelligence that members of the organization could carry out attacks. News CNN.

On Thursday (October 6), the US military carried out an airstrike in a village in the northeastern part of Syria at around 6:30 pm local time. US defense officials said two top leaders of the Islamic militant group were killed in the attack.


One of the dead is Abu Ala. He is one of the top five leaders of IS and is the deputy head of IS in Syria. On the other hand, another slain leader, Abu Muad al-Qahtani, is an IS prison officer.


U.S. officials said the U.S. Central Command conducted the airstrikes to gather intelligence after receiving information that Islamic militant groups might launch an attack. Earlier, a leader of the organization was killed when the US forces conducted another operation in the northeastern region of the country on Wednesday (05 October) night.

However, no civilians or US forces were injured or killed in the two attacks, Washington said in a statement. Even US military equipment was not damaged.


Meanwhile, the militant organization informed that the United States carried out airstrikes targeting the positions of several IS leaders this year. Top leader Abu Ibrahim al Hashimi al Quraishi was killed in a US strike in February.
