According to media reports, the leaders of the former Soviet countries gathered at the Tsarist Constantine Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia on Friday for Putin's birthday. At this time, in the presence of everyone, Lukashenko handed over a certificate of the tractor to Putin.


Tractors have been the pride of Belarus' industrial sector since the Soviet era. That is why the President of Belarus gave such a rare gift to Putin on his birthday.


President Alexander Lukashenko has been in power in Belarus for nearly three decades. On July 20, 1994, Lukashenko was sworn in as the first president in the history of the Eastern European country of Belarus. He is the first and only person in the history of post-Soviet Belarus to be elected president by direct popular vote.


At the end of Putin's birthday party, Lukashenko told reporters that he himself uses a tractor of the type he gave Putin in the garden.


But it is not known what was the reaction of the Russian leader after receiving this gift. Lukashenko's office reported the gift to Putin.


Putin's speech at a televised meeting later made no mention of the gift. In the speech, he spoke about the need for a solution to the conflicts of the former Soviet countries.
