PTI seeks disqualification of Shahbaz in Supreme Court

A petition has been filed in the country's Supreme Court to disqualify Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The main opposition party Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) filed the petition under Article 62 (1)(f) of the Constitution of Pakistan on Thursday (October 13). News AIY.

According to reports, PTI leaders Andalib Abbas and Hasan Niazi registered the petition in the Supreme Court through advocate Asad Manzoor Butt. According to the petition, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif during his recent foreign tour held meetings with court-proclaimed criminals and convicted persons.


According to the petition, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met Hussain Nawaz, Sulaiman Shahbaz and Ishaq Dar during his foreign visit. Then he brought Ishaq Dar to Pakistan in his plane on his way back. All these actions of Shahbaz Sharif are a clear violation of the constitution and laws of the country. It is also mentioned that Prime Minister Shahbaz misused his power through these activities.

Express Tribune reports that PTI leaders Andalib Abbas and Hasan Niazi have requested the Supreme Court to suspend the cabinet members, including the home minister and foreign minister, from their duties till a decision is announced on the petition disqualifying Prime Minister Shahbaz under Article 62 (1)(f).

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif is a convicted accused in a corruption case. In 2017, an accountability court in Pakistan sentenced him to 10 years in prison and a fine of 8 million rupees. He was also disqualified from politics. Despite being sentenced, Nawaz went to London for treatment in 2019 with the permission of the court. Since then he has been staying there.


A special court of the country has acquitted Shahbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz from the case of smuggling 1600 crore rupees on the same day as PTI's petition was filed. The Central Investigation Agency (FIA) did the case. The FIA ​​told the court that neither the father nor the son had directly deposited any money in their bank accounts.

After that, the court announced the verdict on Thursday (October 13) in the mega money laundering case against the Shahbaz family. The father and son were summoned to appear in court, but neither appeared. As Shahbaz is busy with office work and Hamza is sick, their lawyers ask for exemption from attendance.
