Zelensky said that Russia was in regular contact with China before the start of military operations. Moreover, there was a lot of economic and commercial cooperation with the country.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba during the United Nations General Session in New York. Then such comments came from the President of Ukraine.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang told Kuleba that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries must be respected, Xinhua news agency reported. Legitimate security concerns of all countries must be taken seriously and all efforts conducive to a peaceful resolution of the crisis must be supported.

Meanwhile, the United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called for the mitigation of the tension spread over Taiwan during the discussion with the Chinese Foreign Minister.

Blinken held 90-minute talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New York on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly. He termed the discussion as 'unfair' and noted that Taiwan's context was important in the discussion.

Blinken stressed that maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait is critical to regional and global security and prosperity, the US State Department said in a statement on Friday (Sept 23).

It also said Blinken discussed the need to maintain direct communication and responsible relations between the United States and China, especially at a time of heightened tensions.

A US State Department official called the talks on Taiwan 'open and sincere'.

Wang A met with the Ukrainian foreign minister in New York for the first time since the start of the war in Ukraine. At a Security Council meeting on Thursday (September 22), he emphasized the need for a ceasefire rather than support for Russia.
