The center-right leads in the opinion polls in the Italian election

The campaign is over. The people of Italy are going to vote in the parliamentary elections on Sunday (September 25). In this election, the centre-right coalition is ahead in most opinion polls. Giorgia Meloni, a woman politician close to former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, could become prime minister if the right wing wins.

The parties' official campaign ended on Friday (September 23). On this day, the Democratic Party, the partner of the left-wing alliance, held an election rally. Despite the presence of a large number of supporters, the party is lagging behind in public opinion polls. In the final days of campaigning, party leaders accused the right wing of racism.

Earlier on Thursday (September 22) the right wing held an election rally at the same place. Former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi and former interior minister, along with the top leaders of the right-wing alliance, spoke in it. At that time, they promised to reduce the price of electricity if they won the election.

Meanwhile, the citizens of the country believe that the moderate anti-immigration right wing will come to power after almost a century in this election. However, the Bangladeshis living in Italy have always been supporters of the leftists. Expatriate Bangladeshis are called to vote for the Democratic Party in the elections for the sake of the immigrants.

Even though the right wing is ahead in the latest election polls, 40 percent of the country's voters are still undecided. And so experts believe that the election result depends on the decision of the silent voters.

Meanwhile, analysts believe that Italy may lean towards Russia with the victory of the right wing in the elections. According to an analytical report by Al-Jazeera, when Vladimir Putin was elected for a fourth term as President of Russia in 2018, some right-wing leaders in Italy congratulated Putin somewhat hastily.

The head of the Brothers of Italy party, Giorgia Meloni, wrote on social media at the time, "This election in Russia is an unequivocal reflection of the will of the people."

Meloni's comments have surfaced in recent weeks. Because, after the collapse of Mario Draghi's government, the country is going to hold national elections on Sunday (September 25). Analysts say Meloni can become Italy's first female prime minister by winning the election.

Meloni's alliance Brothers of Italy can get the most seats in this election. The coalition could form a right-wing government with Matteo Salvini's League and Silvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia.

Europe is doing everything to counter Russian military action in Ukraine At the same time, the return to Italian power of groups that already have friendly relations with Russia is expected to strengthen Rome-Moscow ties again.
