New UK Prime Minister Truss met with Israeli Prime Minister Lapid on Wednesday (September 21) on the sidelines of the ongoing United Nations General Assembly session in New York City. In the meeting, he indicated to Lapid to move the British Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

In this regard, a spokesman for Downing Street said, Prime Minister Liz Truss informed Lapid about the review of the current location of the British Embassy in Israel. Al-Jazeera reported that there was no official statement from Israel on this matter.

After winning the war with the Arabs in 1967, Israel captured East Jerusalem and declared the entire city of Jerusalem as part of the Israeli state. In 2017, the then US President Donald Trump made the highly controversial announcement of moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem.
