Powerful countries are silent on climate, the affected countries are frustrated

The countries most threatened by the effects of climate change have expressed frustration and anger at the silent role of the world's powerful nations in reducing the rate of carbon emissions into the atmosphere.

The governments and heads of state of the affected countries also requested the intervention of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to take measures against the powerful countries in the speech given at the session of the United Nations General Assembly.

However, as usual, US President Joe Biden emphasized on increasing the production and use of renewable energy by highlighting the various measures taken by his country to deal with the effects of climate change.

World leaders have been making a flurry of promises at UN General Assembly sessions for years to address the effects of climate change. But in reality there is no effective action.

Let alone the implementation of the climate agreement, on the contrary, the leaders are constantly moving away from the promises and commitments. The world is constantly under threat. The threat of climate change is increasing.

Thousands of climate activists have been protesting in New York for several days demanding effective measures to combat the effects of climate change. Many people were seen protesting in front of the UN headquarters on Friday (September 23) as well.

At the same time, protests were held simultaneously in several other countries of the world.

On this day, in the session of the United Nations General Assembly, the heads of governments of the affected countries expressed their anger at the silent role of the powerful countries of the world in dealing with the effects of climate change.

At the same time, they also wanted the intervention of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to take measures against the countries that emit the most carbon, including the United States and China.

Vanuatu President Nikenike Vurobaravu told the session, 'Time is up. What needs to be done now, otherwise the climate disaster cannot be prevented. I think the time has come for the International Court of Justice to intervene in the situation.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said, "Pakistan is under threat from climate change as much as it has never been before. The recent devastating floods are a prime example of this. I don't know what else is waiting for us.'

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said, "I don't think there is a more important crisis in the world right now than the climate that needs more attention from the United Nations." The impact of climate change is so dire that nothing compares to it. And those who are least responsible for this, are the ones who suffer the most.'

However, the United States, which is blamed for the increase in global warming due to the release of carbon into the atmosphere, has, as always, given a bunch of promises. In his address to the General Assembly session, US President Joe Biden highlighted the various steps taken by his government to prevent climate change.

Experts say the world is still a long way from meeting the pledge made by world leaders to limit the rate of global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. They also warned that if this continues, the rate of temperature increase in the atmosphere will reach 3.2 degrees by the end of this century.
