Four people have been reported dead after Hurricane Fiona hit the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. Thousands of people have been cut off. Heavy rains also caused flooding in some areas in the Dominican Republic. Meanwhile, 4 people died in Japan due to strong typhoon Nanmadal.

The Caribbean island of Puerto Rico was battered by Hurricane Fiona. Fiona hit the island on Monday (September 19). Many houses have been damaged. A bridge was washed away by heavy rain and strong winds. Two airports have been sunk.  


Several casualties have already been reported. Thousands of people are trapped in the water. Rescue work is going on. 


Earlier in 2018, more than 3,000 people died on the island due to the impact of Hurricane Maria. The effects of the massive damage have not yet subsided. The local authorities fear that the impact of Fiona will threaten the lives of the islanders. 


Meanwhile, the hurricane also hit the Dominican Republic from Puerto Rico. Due to which heavy rains have caused flash floods and landslides. At least 11 thousand people are without electricity. Many crops were washed away. Several cities were cut off as several roads were flooded. The local authorities have arranged relief for the flood victims.

approaches Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has warned that the hurricane could hit the islands of Turks and Caicos on Tuesday (September 20).


On the other hand, Typhoon Nanmadol is still raging in the southwestern Japanese island of Kyushu. Four deaths have been reported. At least three lakh people have been cut off. 9 million people have been evacuated to safe places to avoid any accidents.  


Due to the influence of this powerful cyclone, the capital Tokyo is experiencing torrential rain. Several flights have already been cancelled, train services are also being disrupted. Authorities have issued flood warnings for Tokyo and large parts of Kyushu.
