Gun attack in Las Vegas, 1 dead
Gun attacks are not stopping in the US. Every day, gun violence takes place somewhere in the country. One person was killed in a shooting outside a shopping mall in Las Vegas on Monday (September 26) local time. A police officer was injured.
On Monday morning local time, an unidentified gunman opened fire on police patrolling outside a shopping mall in the Henderson area of Las Vegas, Nevada. At that time, the police started firing back at the attacker. A dead body was recovered from there during the firing from both sides. A police officer was admitted to the hospital with serious injuries.
The attack spread panic in the surrounding area. Security has been beefed up on various roads. The identity of the deceased was not immediately known. However, it is believed that that person is the attacker. The local police have started an investigation to find out the reason for the attack.
Gun attacks have become a regular occurrence in the United States. Attacks are happening every day somewhere in the country. According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been more than 500 gun attacks across the United States this month. At least 20 people lost their lives. In addition, 10 people lost their lives in a gun attack in Buffalo, New York, this year in July. And in May, a gunman opened fire at a school in Texas, killing 19 students.
US President Joe Biden has proposed several laws to stop gun violence. That includes banning firearms that can be used in assaults as well as removing protection laws for gun manufacturers. Biden even signed gun reform legislation.
