7 tourists killed as car fell into ditch in Himachal
At least 7 people were killed when a tourist car fell into a ditch in Himachal Pradesh, India. 10 others were injured. Among the dead are three students of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Varanasi. News from NDTV
The accident took place in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday (September 25) night.
According to NDTV report, the tourist vehicle lost control and fell into the gorge at Ghiaghi area of Banjar sub division of Kullu district around 8:30 pm on Sunday. Five tourists died on the spot. Two others died after being taken to hospital with serious injuries.
After the accident, the local residents informed the police and started the rescue operation. The injured are being treated at a local hospital.
Police said the victims were from different states of India. The identity of the deceased has already been identified.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and Union Minister Anurag Thakur expressed their grief and condolences to the bereaved families in this tragic accident.
