Russia Condemns Israeli Airstrike That Killed Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah
Russia has expressed strong condemnation following the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli airstrike. The targeted attack took place in a residential area of Beirut, Lebanon’s capital. According to media reports, Israeli forces dropped at least 85 tons of bombs on Hezbollah’s headquarters in the Dahiya district of Beirut.
This airstrike occurred while world leaders were attending the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Alongside Nasrallah, several other senior Hezbollah commanders were also killed in the attack.
In a statement, Russia's Foreign Ministry condemned the Israeli airstrike and called for an immediate end to Israeli aggression against Lebanon. Russian officials warned that this attack could have serious consequences, not just for Lebanon but for the entire Middle East region.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused Israel of trying to provoke a larger conflict, specifically between Iran and the United States. Lavrov stated that the airstrike could lead to a broader war throughout the region, with potentially devastating consequences.
