Until 1970, only the legendary Mario Zagallo had won the World Cup as a footballer and coach. He brought the World Cup to Brazil in 1958 and 1962 as a footballer. Jagallo was also the coach of the 1970 World Cup winning Brazil team.
Franz Beckenbauer led Germany to the World Cup as captain in 1974 and as coach in 1990. This achievement was once held only by Beckenbauer. Didier Deschamps won the World Cup for France after 20 years.
Year 1998 France reached the World Cup final in their own country. Brazil's then 'All Star' team lost to Zidane Magic. This Desham was the captain of that great team.
