The country's authorities have confirmed the first death due to monkeypox in the United States. Local time on Monday (September 12) in a county in Los Angeles, California, a person died. This news was reported in the country's media on Tuesday (September 13).

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed the death on Monday. The United States' Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also confirmed the monkeypox patient's death. However, the authorities have not given any detailed information in this regard. The patient's name was not disclosed.


A statement from Los Angeles County said the man's immune system was very weak. He was admitted to the hospital. No further information will be released in this regard.


The statement also said, 'People with very weak immunity are advised to seek treatment and stay under observation early if they are suspected of being infected with monkeypox. And it is advised to stay under the supervision of medical service providers even during their illness.


William Schaffner, professor of infectious diseases at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, said, "After the virus entered the body, the patient's weak immune system could not control it. In this condition, the virus multiplies and probably spreads to different parts of the body and renders them ineffective.


Death of a patient from monkeypox is very rare so far. This virus usually affects children, pregnant women and people with weak immunity. As is the case with HIV AIDS.


Monkeypox infections are increasing worldwide. Every day there are new news of the victim. In the meantime, the existence of the virus has been found in 96 countries of the world, and the number of infected has exceeded 50 thousand. The virus has so far killed 17 people, including one in the United States.


As of last Monday, the number of suspected or confirmed cases of monkeypox in the United States reached about 22,000. Most of these are in the state of California. So far 4 thousand 300 patients have been identified in the state.
